On behalf of the organising committee, we invite you to the Warwick Battery Days (WBD) Workshop, scheduled to take place at the University of Warwick (UK), between 20-21 June 2024.

WBD 2024 will be the first of the annual workshop series that is co-organised by the Warwick Chemistry and Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG). WBD 2024 will bring together leading experts from the experimental and computational battery research community as well as the from the industry, aiming to facilitate discussions on the current state-of-the-art in the field and the future directions based on industrial and societal needs. We expect the conference to attract around 100 participants.

For more details, please visit our website [WBD 2024].

WBD 2024 will cover an array of scientific topics, including (but not limited to):

    • Multi-scale Modelling of Battery Materials and Systems
      • Materials discovery through crystal structure predictions
      • Atomistic modelling of chemistry at the surfaces and interfaces
      • Machine-learning applications in  battery modelling
      • Continuum and larger-scale modelling
    • Experimental characterisation of Battery Materials and Systems
      • Electrochemical performance, structure-property relations, microstructures, surface/interface morphologies, and alike.
    • Role of Additives and Coatings in Enhancing Battery Performance
      • Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and CVD in Battery Applications
    • Industrial Perspectives on Scaling up Next-gen Battery Systems and related applications

Innovate UK are delighted to co-run this years GRIPS 2024 event with the British Plastics Federation.

    Register: https://iuk.ktn-uk.org/events/global-research-and-innovation-in-plastics...

    Why visit?

Now in its fourth year, the Global Research and Innovation in Plastics Sustainability conference, GRIPS 2024, is focussed on bringing together companies, individuals and change makers to highlight the best of UK – and select international – innovations and business models that will lead to plastics being more sustainable.

This one-day event will be hosted by the Grantham Centre for Sustainable Futures with support from the Worshipful Company of Horners.

    What’s on

The event’s focus is on the positives of plastics whilst ensuring they are less likely to reach landfill sites, end up incinerated or become fugitive in the environment. The Grantham Centre’s academic research tells us that switching away from plastic to alternate materials will, in most cases, increase carbon emissions and therefore hasten climate change.

Over three parallel streams consisting of presentations and panel discussions, GRIPS 2024 will highlight innovations And core topics, including:

    • plastic packaging – including reuse
    • new recycling infrastructure – both mechanical and depolymerisation
    • the role of AI in plastics sustainability
    • green chemistry for polymers of the future
    • emerging business models
    • the role of additives in plastics sustainability
    • the impact of legislation
    • mitigating the effect of plastic on our oceans
    • the world view of plastic – Global Plastics Treaty

The conference keynote sessions will be delivered by the Grantham Centre for Sustainable Futures plastics sustainability experts: Professor Tony Ryan, Professor Rachael Rothman and Dr Fanran Meng. These promise to be engaging, informative and show that plastics are valuable in a sustainable future.

    Who attends?

The conference is free to attend, so please register today to ensure you secure your place at this respected event. Conference delegates have access to all streams across the venue and have the chance to visit exhibitors, plus engage in networking opportunities. GRIPS 2024 takes place 19 September in Sheffield University’s building ‘The Wave’.

Under the banner of our flagship diamond open access journal, Chemical Science, we’ll be shining a spotlight on cutting-edge chemistry research and giving it the sort of attention that drives scientific progress and makes a difference.

This hybrid meeting is the next iteration in the Chemical Science symposia series hosted by the Royal Society of Chemistry.  We’re excited to welcome delegates to the home of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and look forward to a conversation enriched by the online participation of our international community.

We warmly invite you to join us in London, or online, in October 2024, for the sixth Chemical Science symposium, and look forward to welcoming you to the discussion.

    About the symposium

Leading researchers and emerging investigators from a broad range of backgrounds will come together to explore and celebrate the theme of the 2024 symposium: Materials for energy storage and conversion

The scientific programme of invited talks will be added shortly. The invited speakers will also be complemented by flash talks and poster sessions to provide further networking opportunities and discussion for all attendees.

The invited speakers for this symposium will discuss research over a range of topics, including:

    • Batteries
    • Fuel cells
    • Gas capture, separation and storage
    • Solar fuels
    • Artificial photosynthesis
    • Carbon dioxide conversion and reduction
    • Water oxidation
    • Photocatalysis and photovoltaics

Speakers to be confirmed shortly. Submit a poster abstract by 19 August 2024
