Interdisciplinary Research Centre

Date:
Friday, 9 January, 2015 - 13:00 to 14:00
Event location:
LR3B, Inglis Building

Speaker: Dr Kamel Hooman (The University of Queensland)

The talk will summarise the University of Queensland work on power conversion from renewable low grade sources. Queensland Geothermal Energy Centre of Excellence has been established in 2009 to help the industry in its quest to generate power from enhanced (engineered) geothermal systems. Four programs aiming at reservoirs, transmission, heat exchangers and turbomachinery were then designed with the main goal of using supercritical fluid flows in the power cycle. Difficulties associated with such flow systems are listed and possibilities for future research are explored in this talk.
