Mara Bălașa is a visiting researcher at the Energy Policy Research Group and an associate member of the Peterhouse College MCR at the University of Cambridge. She is a fourth-year PhD Fellow at the Center for Statecraft and Strategic Communication, Stockholm School of Economics, as well as a Senior Associate at the Energy Policy Group think tank. Her work is at the intersection between green industrial policy, electricity markets, and the decarbonisation of heavy industries such as steel.
Mara holds an MSc in Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics and a BSc in Economics, Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick. Her previous work experience includes the European Central Bank, the World Bank, the Romanian Ministry of Economy, and the Romanian Permanent Representation to the European Union.
