Abstract: International energy law is entering a new era. It has been challenged over the last five decades in its evolution. Indeed, international energy law and its improvement in governance outcomes is now a domain for many researchers and practitioners. The previous limits of energy law scholarship are now exciting opportunities for collaboration or for the use of mixed methods and theories. This research will highlight some of the key changes to international energy law and further advance what the future brings. It offers a conceptual exploration of what the new horizon is for international energy law whereby energy sector stakeholders have a visible role to play. Already there is early evidence of this movement globally and these examples will be explored. Finally, the crossing of theory into practice will be explored which demonstrates a greater potential impact for international energy law into the future of a climate-constrained world.
