About
Speaker: Aleida Rios, Senior vice president of Engineering, BP
BP has started its transformation from being an international oil company focused on producing hydrocarbon resources, to an integrated energy company focused on delivering low carbon and renewable solutions for customers with an ambition to be a net zero company by 2050 or sooner and to help the world get to net zero.
CCUS will play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions; it can capture emissions from many industries including power generation, while enabling new energy solutions, such as blue hydrogen and creating opportunities for other low carbon industries. CCUS can also foster negative emissions by capturing carbon dioxide from biomass and by direct air capture. It is complementary to renewables and together they can provide solutions for net zero targets. In the UK, bp is playing a lead role in the CCUS deployment by establishing low carbon projects in the Teesside industrial zone with NetZeroTeesside and H2Teesside, alongside the green hydrogen project HyGreen.
