2021 is a crucial year for climate action. As calls for a green recovery continue to grow, net zero pledges multiply, and climate lawsuits march forward around the world, momentum for climate action is surging. Meanwhile, all eyes are on COP 26 in Glasgow at the end of the year, where governments will meet to negotiate the final elements needed to put the Paris Agreement into practice. How can we understand this present moment, what can we expect from COP 26, and how do the UN climate negotiations relate to the wider landscape of climate ambition and accountability?
