About
The PdOC Society is delighted to announce the upcoming research showcase to be held on the 12th November 2021, to celebrate the important postdoctoral contributions to the University of Cambridge’s excellence in research.
The all-day online event will bring people from the University of Cambridge’s wide postdoctoral community together to hear about the exciting research carried out within the University and to provide them with a unique networking opportunity. Come to meet postdoctoral researchers from all disciplinary backgrounds and gain insights into the diverse research from all across the University!
Registrations are now open! Click here to view the programme and register for the showcase and the formal dinner.
The conference includes two excellent keynotes:
- Prof. Allan Bradley, whose interdisciplinary laboratory in Cambridge specialises in the development and use of genetic technologies. Prof. Bradley is the author of almost 300 scientific articles and book chapters and he has been involved in the commercialisation of several technologies. His laboratory successfully founded multiple companies including a publicly-traded genomics company, Lexicon Genetics Inc, and Kymab, the first spin-out company launched by the Sanger Institute.
- Dr Cara Eldridge, a Cambridge Alumni and associate editor in the Biotechnology Team at Nature Communications. Dr Eldridge is involved in manuscript publications in the areas of cellular biotechnology and methods, including imaging, and is thus experienced to provide further insights on how to publish your research in high-profile journals.
The conference will also include research talks from selected abstracts. 12 postdocs from various fields within the University will present their research in diverse talks to allow a non-specialist audience to learn about a broad range of topics! A presentation prize will be awarded for the best talk.
The formal dinner to be held on the day after the showcase, i.e, 13th November, will provide an additional opportunity to interact with others and network in-person. Please note that only a limited number of places will be available with those participating as speaker or chair getting their spots first, so don’t miss out on this chance!
Abstracts submission to present a talk and chairing opportunities are still open:
- Take your chance and submit your abstracts of no more than 250 words for talks to contact@pdoc.cam.ac.uk using this header “research showcase abstract” by October 28th 2021.
- Are you interested in being part of the abstracts selection committee or a co-chair for the different sessions? Send your details to contact@pdoc.cam.ac.uk with “research showcase sub-committee” or “research showcase co-chair” as a header by October 28th 2021.
Please direct any queries about the research showcase to contact@pdoc.cam.ac.uk using the header “research showcase query”
