Speaker: Mr Maximilian Moser. CTO and Co-founder of Biosimo Chemicals

Abstract: In my talk, I will present the path that Biosimo has taken to transform its research into an innovation and vision.  We will discuss what opportunities we see in bio-based chemicals, what are the hurdles we need to overcome to commercialise, and how we transitioned from academic research to start-up R&D.

Max studied Chemical Engineering at TU Munich and ETH Zurich. He concluded his doctoral studies on the topic of halogen recovery via catalytic oxidation at ETH Zurich in 2015. Until 2021, Max worked as a consultant and project leader for the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. He is one of Biosimo's technology inventors and he is leading research and product development.

About the CARES Commercialisation Series

The Cambridge CARES Commercialisation Series connects those interested in the commercialisation of academic research with the communities of the University of Cambridge (UK) and Cambridge CARES (Singapore), with a key focus on new chemical and artificial intelligence technologies.

Through monthly seminars across a range of topics, from pitches by university spin-offs to informational sessions on intellectual property, we develop networks that can lead to commercial ventures and collaborations. This series also serves to share experience in the commercialisation of academic research and how to overcome common challenges.
