A subclass of hybrid systems that has been arousing interest from researchers in the last years is that of switched affine systems. Their dynamic equations, presenting a discontinuous affine dependence on the state and no other control input than the switching signal, can model several devices in power electronics, such as DC-DC converters. The main motivation of employing switched systems theory for controlling these devices relies upon minimizing switching losses and improving performance. In this talk, an overview is given on some important theoretical results and future perspectives regarding these systems.
