Energy

Interdisciplinary Research Centre

Date:
Thursday, 18 May, 2017 - 18:30 to 20:00
Event location:
Lecture Theatre 0, Engineering Dept, Trumpington Street

Speaker: Oliver Burstall, CTO / COO, Origami Energy

Oliver Burstall will talk about Origami Energy and its objective of developing the technology and financial mechanisms (i.e. the marketplace) that are required to connect, control and actively manage a large network of existing energy generating, energy using, energy storing assets connected to the electricity grid. By increasing the utilisation of existing assets new revenue streams can be generated, the marginal capacity of the network increased, security of supply improved and carbon emissions lowered by reducing the need for “dirty” peaking generation plants and enabling more renewables to be connected to the grid.

This talk is part of the IET Cambridge Network - Lectures series.
