Bookings are now open for the one-day symposium taking place at the Sainsbury Laboratory on Wednesday 8th July 2015. The objective of the day is to learn about and be inspired by case studies of current food security research taking place across the University, and explore ways in which collaboration across disciplines can bring greater impact. Speakers from all Schools of the University will be addressing the challenges of future food provision and access from a wide range of different disciplines and perspectives that are critical to this sustainability challenge. The topics include:

  • The influence of water, land, energy and soil-nutrient resource interactions on the food system in Uganda
  • Forests for food security and nutrition
  • Investment in natural capital
  • Sub-Saharan agriculture and food security
  • Food supply chain resilience
  • MRSA on dairy farms
  • The role of NGOs in bioscience policy-making

As well as plenary talks, there will be panel-led discussion on future priorities, and sharing of the vision for the Global Food Security Initiative. Networking time will be given over the provided lunch and refreshment breaks. The programme is nearing finalisation, but there is still the possibility of including further offered contributions - please contact if you are interested to participate.
