We use simple batteries all the time, but very few of us really understand how they work. The working of batteries was actually a subject of real contention in 19th century science and engineering. Professor Hasok Chang, Department of History and Philosophy of Science, shows how many everyday phenomena turn out to be complex and fascinating.
