The official opening event for the Henry Royce Institute Facilities at the University of Cambridge will be held on Monday 26 February 2018. The event will feature the unveiling of the official plaque by Julia King, Baroness Brown of Cambridge, and a series of fascinating talks from senior academic investigators, highlighting the new science that will be enabled by the Cambridge Royce facilities.

 

Two laboratory tours will leave from the Maxwell Centre reception at 2pm:

(1) electron beam lithography and electrical characterisation facilities in Electrical Engineering

(2) cluster tool, X-ray CT, MPMS,

 

In 2016 the EPSRC awarded £10 million to the University of Cambridge for state-of-the-art research equipment for exploring the theme of Materials for Energy-Efficient ICT. The Cambridge Royce equipment suites are now almost fully installed at the Maxwell Centre, and also within nearby laboratory suites in West Cambridge.

 

The Cambridge Royce operates as a national facility and all equipment is available for use by all UK research institutions and UK industry. The majority of equipment suites are now available for booking.

 

The Cambridge Royce equipment comprises advanced wafer-scale research facilities including a range of chemical synthesis suites, UHV and ambient thin film deposition, nanofabrication tools, in situ characterisation, packaging and electrical testing facilities.
